Geshe Lobsang needs our support
After many years of dialysis, our friend and Tibetan monk, Geshe Lobsang, needs a kidney transplant.
Geshe Lobsang lives in Tibetan exile in India. The Drepung Monastery in the Indian state of Karnataka is home to several thousand monks and Tibetan families. He has been teaching Tibetan Buddhism there for many years and is helping to preserve this endangered culture and religion. Geshe Lobsang is also the personal teacher and mentor of our sponsored child.
In order for Geshe to continue teaching and supporting our sponsored child, it is vital that Geshe Lobsang receives a kidney transplant as soon as possible.
The monastery's financial resources are limited, which is why we need your financial support.
We are grateful for every donation you can give from your heart.

My name is Geshe Lobsang Thapgyal from Drepung Monastery. I would like to bring to the kind attention of everyone, from every corner of the world, that unfortunately my kidneys started failing many years ago. I have been on dialysis for one year and six months, undergoing treatment twice a week. Now, based on the further deterioration of my kidneys, doctors are advising dialysis three times a week.
From the beginning, my friends have suggested that I have a kidney transplant. However, I have always rejected the idea. I could not accept someone giving up their kidney just so I could survive. Many years have passed, and the doctors have warned me of a life-threatening situation.
Recently, the Geshe-las and senior monks from my monastery have been advising me to have a transplant, as the frequency of dialysis has increased to three times a week. They have also suggested the alternative, since it is available. The doctors have suggested a 95% success rate and an extra 16 to 17 years of life expectancy. If the transplant is not done, the doctors say it is life-threatening.
Anyone who could donate a kidney would be saving my life, and I would pray for them. My blood group is AB+.
Thank you very much.
